A Little Bit About Us

It’s time for us to introduce ourselves and to tell you how we came to be the Owners and Hosts of My Little Home in Paris.
We are Sandy and Philippe. We live just up the street and have been residents of this delightful neighborhood for more than 20 years.
Philippe was born and raised in Paris and has lived here all his life.  I’m originally from Canada and made Paris my home many moons ago.
We feel fortunate to live in the center of so much history and culture.
We both love film, music, art, history, photography, architecture, food and wine, and the Café lifestyle that is such an integral part of the city’s identity and personality.
And we love to share Paris with our guests!
We purchased our property in 2006. It was love at first sight.  Although in a state of total disrepair, it already showed so much charm and character.

Philippe spent three indefatigable months restoring the flat, bringing the original parquet floors to life again, hand-tiling an ancient bathroom and building from scratch a proper kitchen. I must mention that this was his first experience re-doing an apartment!
I played the good wife and offered sandwiches every noontime, and wine at the apéro hour.
While he was slaving away, I frequented the flea markets, antique dealers and brocantes, hunting objets d’art, furniture, artwork. I hit the building supply shops for kitchen and bathroom materials, tiling, sinks, taps, paint … And I spent many happy days in Montmartre at the famous fabric outlet ’Marché St Pierre’ choosing drapery and décor accessories.
We opened the doors to our flat to our first guests in the autumn of 2007. We christened it ‘My Little Home in Paris’. And, as they say, the rest is history!

At the beginning, we listed our property on VRBO and remained on this site until 2017.
The vacation rental market sites had become too big and impersonal for us, and more and more automated and controlling.
So we decided to go out on our own and try the old-fashion word-of-mouth approach.
This is our sole rental property. We manage everything ourselves, from communication, booking, cleaning, to welcoming our guests.
Our relationship with our guests begins well before they arrive.
First, through emails, we discover who our guests are, their expectations of their trip, their personal interests, tastes and lifestyle. And they discover a little bit about us, too!

By getting to know our guests, we are able to offer them information that is best suited to help make their stay more meaningful and special.
By the time our guests arrive, we feel like we know one another!

Our ultimate desire is to provide our guests with an experience they will cherish and remember – one which will inspire them to return.
We like to include our guests in our own outings and adventures ; our neighborhood farmer’s market, our local jazz club, for a drink at our local café, the flea markets, a walk in an atypical neighborhood, or even a day-trip to a Chateau!

My Little Home in Paris is an oasis of calm, tucked away in a quiet courtyard off an ancient pedestrian passageway, just off Place de la Contrescarpe and Rue Mouffetard.
It really is a little village, left untouched by Haussmann who revamped Paris under
Napoleon III’s reign to create wide avenues lined with grand buildings of elegant architectural design.

Lucky are those who stumble into this medieval-like bohemian village :
The narrow serpentine cobblestone roads diverge, change names, end abruptly in a treed square with a fountain, and branch off in several directions that defy a compass!

We would like to welcome you to My Little Home in Paris!

It’s more than a rental… It’s a Home.
